    Red face

This may be a bit long and I apologize for not displaying the picture directly, but I can't get the [img] UBB code piece of crap to work. Hopefully the URL link at the bottom will work. I may become a "senior" member editing this damn post! Anyways...

The car is a 96 GSR, 62K miles, 3K with JRSC since April, all stock except Injen short intake, 6 PSI JRSC, JR fuel pump and timing at 8 BTDC running 92 octane gas (standard JR recommendations).

The HP in run 001 looks OK, in run 002 it takes a nosedive around VTEC confused , but catches up at the top end. Not sure what happened there witht the HP (faulty dyno lead?), but the torque numbers look off (up and down all over the map) in both runs 001 and 002 eek . This seems to make less sense considering the air/fuel is pretty flat throughout. The runs were done in fourth gear about three minutes apart. I was told that torque is a computational function of HP which is actually measured on the dynojet (I thought the opposite?) and that the torque curves may not have been "smoothed", but I have no clue and hope someone else does.

Also, if anything else seems strange, feedback would be great!

Here goes nothing on the link..

Well I'd say it looks pretty good.

I'm not sure what the dip is on your blue run, so I'll ignore it.

Peak torque is about right. Lowering the vtec point with a controller to 4200 or so may smooth out that area, but it's no biggy.

The torque drop off starting at 7 is sharp, and you might get some more power between 7-8 with an exhaust system.

The low cam torque should be a big higher, but that may be your timing settings, and stock exhaust.

    You need:
    Short Intake
    Stock Header
    Cat-back exhaust

This should give you 210 H.P. 156 Torque and smooth out the curves.

    ------------------
    00 Naples Gold 3.2TL
N/A with 225 H.P. and 216 Torque at the flywheel
All stock and staying that way

He already has a short intake. Try isolationg your filter from the heat as much as possible. All that heat generated by the engine and blower will kill you in the real world. It might not be as noticable on the dyno, but when on the road you should feel the difference.

Thanks for the input. I still don't understand how the torque curve can swing so wildly when the HP curve is essentially smooth if torque is a function of HP. I guess I'll go find the equation!

I was considering a cat-back, but figured if the gain was only right before redline, I might spend the money elsewhere first. Now that I look at the numbers, I see why it makes sense. Here's some questions:

    1. Would the exhaust cause me to lose mid-range torque or is that typically lost with a header?

    2. Would the exhaust help flatten out the torque on the lower cams/high RPM before VTEC, similar to its effect at the end of the RPM band?

    3. It seems at this point without upping the boost, the only way to gain is in efficiency...what would be the next best alternatives? Porting, bigger throttle body, LSD, etc? Just trying to plan ahead.

Well I think that an exhaust would help you to retail the torque up high, giving more upper end power.

    In answer to your questions:

1 - Not with a supercharger no, not really.

2 - Maybe, but unless you have something weird going on, I doubt it. Furthur I don't think it's that rough. Sometimes others smooth their dyno results, your's looks like it's not been smoothed.

3- I would say, an exhaust would be your best bet at this point for power. BUT if you haven't increased your suspension, with stiffer springs and shocks, or/and a rear sway bar, I'd say that's a better bang for the buck. The throttle body isn't much of an advantage yet for you. LSD is very expensive, porting is a lot of work, and will cost you money for not much at this point.
